About Me

I have lived in Jurupa Valley for the majority of my life having attended local K-12 public schools. I then pursued my higher education locally at the University of California, Riverside where I earned my Bachelors in Political Science/Administrative Studies and a Masters in Public Policy.

I currently serve as a District Representative for State Senator Connie Leyva. Her role as a state official demands community engagement, and as her District Representative, I serve as that bridge between her and community members, leaders, business owners, and advocates to ensure resources are brought and allocated to improve the quality of life for local communities.

Growing up in the neighborhood of Glen Avon, I continue to envision a future for myself in this city where a good quality of life continues to be available to me and my family. This is what inspires me to run for the Recreation and Park District because building upon open public spaces and recreation programs are crucial to bettering the quality of life for all of our residents.

As our city grows, smart development and careful planning is necessary to balance our unique rural identity and the creation of parks and facilities, while expanding quality recreational opportunities. I will bring my background in public policy to prioritize engaging community members and stakeholders at all levels to guarantee that the best decisions are made on behalf of our residents.

In Service,

Edgar Castelan
